At Foas, we strive to legally and ethically promote the exchange of information on the prehistoric and historic heritage of the Falls region among professional archaeologists, students, avocational archaeologists and collectors, professionals in other disciplines historians, teachers, etc. We are part of an on-going story in the Falls region! FOAS is a Non-profit Organization that welcomes all professional and amature archaeologists, students and anyone with a passion for history and conservation. They have made some extraordinary contributions to history, mostly on their own dime and time. Their efforts enrich history, break records, bring new knowledge and on occasion even prove that a myth was real. While searching for historical goodies, an Indian schoolteacher came across an old building in a forest.
The history of archaeology in the Green River Valley begins just over years ago with a man named C. In order to create jobs during the Great Depression, federal agencies, such as the Works Progress Administration WPA , conducted excavations at sites throughout Kentucky to create employment opportunities for out-of-work men.
